Hello, my name is Beaudry Chase. I'm a private tutor with 3 years of experience using a process-based and empathetic approach to help students find fulfillment from learning. I have worked directly with students in middle school, high school, and college with a wide range of educational goals, including subject specific deficiencies and general organizational/executive functioning skills.
Services
I tailor my sessions to best fit my student's needs. But I've found that students come to me needing either subject specific help, or general organizational help, so I offer two types of sessions to fit these needs: subject specific, and executive functioning. I have a First Session Guarantee: if you are unhappy with the first session for any reason, it is of no cost to you.
Subject Specific
I understand that students learn differently. As a tutor, I strive to adapt my approach to meet my students where they are. In my own journey as a learner, and as a tutor, I've seen the impact a teacher can have on how a student feels about a subject. Growing up, I thought I hated math, until I had one amazing teacher in high school who opened my eyes to how creative and interesting it is. My favorite moment as a tutor is when I see a student begin to enjoy a subject.
I have experience assisting students with the following subjects:
Algebra
High school level Algebra I and II
Geometry
High School level Geometry
Precalculus
High School and college level Precalculus
Physics
High school introductory level, AP Physics I: Algebra Based, AP Physics II: Algebra Based
Computer Science
I'm comfortable teaching a wide range of computer science subjects at the high school and undergraduate level.
Executive Functioning Tutoring
Success is so much more than good grades
Not many people are familiar with the term 'executive functioning,' but a lot of the problems students face stem from an executive functioning deficiency. These students are smart and capable and have many interests. But they struggle to keep track of everything on their plate, to keep track of deadlines without stress or procrastination, to stay motivated and organized. These struggles may elicit feelings of shame, insecurity, and comparison.
Everyone else seems to just get tasks done, why can't I
There are many different aspects to executive functioning deficiencies, and every student has a unique profile. As part of our intake process, we have every student take an assessment to determine which areas of executive functioning they struggle with
These skills, like any skill, can be developed. Students that struggle with these things aren't doomed to struggle with them for the rest of their lives. I use a research-based intervention designed to enhance executive skills and lead to improved self-regulation. If you think your student could benefit from executive functioning coaching, please don't hesitate to reach out. I would love to hear from you and answer any questions you have about my process.
